In more severe cases, Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), abdominal pain, and bleeding from the mouth, nose, eyes, or stomach may occur. In rare cases, liver and kidney failure, delirium, seizures, and Coma can occur.

What are the causes of Yellow Fever?

Yellow fever is caused by a virus that is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. The virus is found in tropical and subtropical areas of Africa and South America.

What are the treatments for Yellow Fever?

The most effective treatment for Yellow Fever is prevention through vaccination. If a person has already been infected, supportive care is the main treatment. This includes rest, fluids, and medications to reduce fever and relieve pain. In severe cases, hospitalization may be necessary to provide supportive care, such as intravenous fluids and oxygen. In rare cases, a person may require a blood transfusion or dialysis.

What are the risk factors for Yellow Fever?

1. Living in or traveling to areas where yellow fever is common, such as parts of Africa and South America.

2. Being exposed to mosquitoes that carry the virus.

3. Having a weakened immune system due to HIV/AIDS, cancer, or other conditions.

4. Being pregnant.

5. Being under the age of 6 months.

Is there a cure/medications for Yellow Fever?

Yes, there is a vaccine available to prevent yellow fever. There is also a medication called ribavirin that can be used to treat severe cases of yellow fever.
